Rolling Prairie Bike Trail

Rolling Prairie Bike Trail between Clarksville and Allison is part of the Rolling Prairie Tri-County Trail System, a recreational trail system planned for North Central and Northeast Iowa.

This part of the trail connects Heery Woods State Park at Clarksville and Wilder Park at Allison. Each park is close to its respective town, and offers a full range of family oriented camping and recreation opportunities.

When complete, this corridor will include nine communities, three counties, and two state parks. Parts of the trail are now complete with the rest yet to be developed.

These communities are part of the system: Coulter, Hampton, Hansell, Dumont, Bristow, Allison, Clarksville, Shell Rock, Waverly, Denver and Readlyn. The trail connects  Bremer, Butler and Franklin Counties in Northeast Iowa.

Rolling Prairie Trail from Clarksville to Shell Rock is paved
After a year's delay, the final section of the developed trail has been paved. The 6-mile section had been a limestone base. This project brings the entire paved trail length in Butler County to 12 miles from Allison to Shell Rock. Trail enthusiasts are planning to hold a grand-opening poker run on the trail in the Spring of 2008. Watch this website for more information as plans come together.
